canon i560 printer colors not printing?

My colors are not printing during the self test. apparently the yellow cartage works but not any of the others even after several deep cleans. all the cartages are securely in the printer and they are brand new. any suggestions on how to fix it without taking it in for repair like manually cleaning the heads or opening the printer to check for broken parts?
