How do people who write screenplays get permission to direct the films, even if they have no experience?
Like I checked on IMDb.com about different film makers, such as Joby Harold, who wrote and directed 'Awake', or Daniel Barnz, who wrote and directed 'Phoebe In Wonderland'. Like I understand that people can send in screenplays and if the executives like it, it gets made. But how do the writers get permission to direct the movie aswell? I thought the producers would hire perfessional directors to make it. But sometimes they just let the writer direct it too. How??
It's not that complicated. Many people do more than one job.
Sometimes the directors produce. Sometimes the producers act. Sometimes as you stated, the writers direct.
It is very common.
