Muse Tickets - Muse Impresses At Madison Square Garden Gig

Muse may be leading the bill for the upcoming Coachella Valley Music Festival along with Jay-Z and Gorillaz, but it is the British trio's recent show at New York City's famed Madison Square Garden that has everyone talking! Silversun Pickups opened the March 5 show, wowing the sold-out crowd with an eight-song set list featuring "There's No Secrets This Year" and "Panic Switch." After the Best New Artist Grammy-nominated act finished their set, Muse frontman Matthew Bellamy took the stage and the group opened its set with "Uprising."

"Resistance" followed, and the trio continued to play songs from Absolution like "Stockholm Syndrome" and Black Holes and Revelations such as "Starlight" amidst "Hello New York City!" shout-outs from Bellamy. The silver suit-clad frontman channeled Queen's Freddie Mercury as he jammed 2001's "Feeling Good" from behind a piano, and the spectacle continued to include performances of tracks like "Helsinki Jam," "Undisclosed Desires," "Plug In Baby," "Time Is Running Out" and "Unnatural Selection." Muse's three-song encore was comprised of "Exogenesis: Symphony, Part 1: Overture," "Stockholm Syndrome" and "Knights of Cydonia."

Those who missed Muse's sold-out Madison Square Garden show can still see the band live, as the crew is currently on tour in support of 2009's The Resistance. After wrapping up their current round of touring, Muse's Matthew Bellamy, Chris Wolstenholme and Dominic Howard will headline the 11th annual Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival. Held at its usual Empire Polo Field location in Indio, Calif., this year's edition will take place April 16-18. Muse will headline Coachella on Saturday night (April 17) while the festival will also feature performances by Jay-Z, LCD Soundsystem, Thom Yorke, Pavement, Faith No More, the Specials, Them Crooked Vultures, David Guetta, Vampire Weekend, Phoenix, Public Image Limited, MGMT and more.

Although Muse has been tapped to perform at several music festivals during this festival season such as T in the Park and Coachella, the band has reportedly been left out of the soundtrack for the upcoming Twilight film Eclipse. Muse provided tracks for the first two films of the massively popular vampire series and started working on a song for the third installment, reports RTT News. Muse drummer Dominic Howard described said of the snub, "It's the people in the movie business, completely outside of the writers and the creative types, the non-creative types I supposed are the people who are quite hard to deal with in Hollywood, so it didn't work out."

Despite being left off of the Eclipse soundtrack, the British trio says they have no hard feelings for Twilight author Stephanie Meyer. In fact, Muse still plans on releasing the as-yet-untitled love song! "Yeah, we sure will [release it], I mean, it was great. We worked on it in Australia, we were ready to record … I'm sure the song will definitely come to life for real at some point, but I think for this film it's not going to happen," said Howard about the meant-for-Twilight song.

Radio Scanner - What You Must to Know About Radio Scanners?

Here are several things you must assess if you decide to buy a radio scanner. You have to be aware of the features of these devices, so you'll know if that particular unit has all the elements needed by a user.

Radio Scanners are Not Illegal

Virtually all you will hear on its frequencies is legal. There are no legal restrictions if scanners are used at home. What is illegal is utilizing the info heard on the scanner to commit a crime or use it for financial gain. There may also be a few restrictions in using them while in a vehicle; it depends on the state. But deciding to buy a radio scanner is legal.

The following is a list of what you can expect from a radio scanner. Not all devices have these features, so remember that as you shop for a scanner.

Base vs. Handheld Scanners

The base or mobile scanners are for use on base stations or a vehicle. The sound is louder and quality is better than handhelds. The keypads and displays are also larger. They also come with a power supply.

In terms of performance, the mobile scanners are better than handhelds. They have greater coverage and less susceptible to interference. However, handheld scanners are more convenient and can be carried by an individual.

If you don't plan to bring the scanner with you, buy a radio scanner of the mobile variety. If you want something you can take while traveling, the handheld is the better option.

Number of Channels Available

This determines how many systems you can tune in to. A scanner with limited channels means you have to reprogram it whenever you want to check out another agency. If you just listen to the sheriff's department, 20 channels will be sufficient.

But if you live in the city or metropolitan area, you'll need more channels. In these places each city will have their own department, each with 5 to 10 frequencies. This doesn't even count in the state and county police.

If you want to listen to civil / military aircraft, fire department, etc. you'll need to buy a radio scanner that can accommodate 200 to 1000 frequencies.

Using Banks

On scanners with plenty of channels, the user can organize them into banks. The banks are used to cluster channels that share a common topic. That is, you can put all law enforcement frequencies on bank 1, fire/medical on bank 2, aircraft on bank 3 and so on.

Search Mode

A scanner with a search mode option allows the user to look for systems on unknown channels or frequencies. Unpublished frequencies include those of NASA, the FBI and many more. The search option on scanners is often customizable. The search speed will vary per scanner though.

While you can buy a radio scanner with no trouble, getting your money's worth is possible only if you know what a good scanner should have installed. By being aware of what radio scanners can do, you will be a more informed buyer.

Can I convert a vintage Singer machine to run electric?

I recently inherited a beautiful treadle operated Singer sewing machine. Although it isn't exactly in working order, it is in great shape- absolutely gorgeous. I have had a basic Brother machine for the past 10 years, nothing fancy, that I use for all of my sewing. However, it is not that great for sewing through denim and multiple layers of heavy fabrics, so I've been looking to buy a new machine. I've been doing some research this week on more heavy duty machines, and mostly everything I read says older machines are the way to go. So, I'm wondering if it would be possible to convert my vintage Singer? I would love to be able to put it to use! I just looked up the serial number, and the model is from 1916-1918 (I think). Serial number: G6271161
Would this be possible to convert? Or should I just buy something new?

PLEASE do not modify the machine in any way shape or form!!!!! First the machine my be worth allot of money as an antique second if you have it repaired and the wood work cleaned up you have a new piece of furniture, for the amount of jeans that you would sew would it be worth it. Send the numbers into Singer see what they say about the machine and from there you decide.

Vintage cars are usually cars that were manufactured for use between 1919 and 1930. The features and qualities of the vintage cars can be explained using the history and development of the vintage cars .The horseless carriage was the earliest type of the vintage cars ever made .It had parts that were commonly hand crafted and its mobility was made possible by a steam powered engine. They had low horse power, poor mechanicals and were considered to be inefficient later on. Advancements in automobiles saw a major transformation of the horseless carriage to make it better in its mechanical and horse power together with a better and efficient performance. In addition the technology allowed for comfort for the passengers and their driver and also boosted safety measures.

During the vintage period, electric self starters were introduced on automobiles to do away with the hand cranks that were very dangerous. From the use of kerosene lanterns that were used to light when one was driving in the night or whenever there was an unclear vision of the road ,electric lighting was incorporated on the automobiles to provide better and clear illumination during night driving situations. The vintage cars became more stylish with their enclosed bodies which add adjustable windows that could be lowered or raised if one wanted to. The enclosed bodies also came in handy when there rose a need block off elements from the people within the car.

The vintage automobiles were at this time becoming cheaper and many people could afford them. Moreover its new features made it become more durable. Automobile manufacturers like Chrysler, Chevrolet, Oldsmobile, Dodge, Plymouth, Ford, Studebaker and Buick were now able to produce vintage cars in mass assemble lines making it easier for people to travel easily and cheaply. The building of car components also began at this time bringing a rise in sustainability and growth in the automotive industry. The engines of the vintage cars were characterized either by steam or electrical powering to facilitate its mobility. However this situation was gradually overtaken by the combustion engines which were internally placed on the cars. These configurations of engines made the cars faster than the steam or electrical powered vintage cars and they included v-8’s, v-12, v-8’s, and v-16’s.

The latest versions of the vintage cars became more comfortable, practical and comfortable. It included more luxurious features such as the car radio and an in–built car heating system. If you own firearms, you are probably aware that gun safes are a key part of safety. These protect your family by keeping children and others away from dangerous items. Most suicides and gun related crimes, such as school shootings, are committed with another person's firearms. It doesn't get simpler than that: a gun safe saves lives.

Without a locked case, there is only so much you can do to protect your guns. Many people keep their guns and ammunition in separate areas, but curious children can eventually track the parts down. Storing your guns in a safe is enough to deter most unauthorized attempts to access your firearms. Most young people will lack the tools and determination to crack a solid safe and thieves will tend towards easier targets. However, to prepare against serious thieves, many types provide additional protection.

The first line of defense is the lock. The most basic type is the mechanical combination lock, which is known for being both effective and inexpensive. For extra safety, some of these locks use six numbers instead of the traditional three. When it comes to gun safes, many combination locks are combined with a key mechanism. This means that a person needs both the key and the combination in order to access the safe. This system is more secure than either the key or the combination lock alone and significantly complicates matters for thieves.

Electronic locks have the security of combination locks but offer greater flexibility. They can be programmed to hold multiple combinations for different people. It is also easy to change the entry code as often as you need to in order to feel secure. Many electronic locks will automatically shut down if several incorrect codes are entered in a row. This function makes it difficult for people to guess their way into the safe. These extra features make electronic locks more expensive than the basic mechanical lock, but many people feel that the extra flexibility is worth the price.

A newer type of lock uses a person's fingerprint as the entry code or combination. These locks are fast and easy to use, especially since you do not need to memorize anything to use them. So long as you keep your fingertips in decent shape you should not run into problems with this type of lock. If access speed is very important to you, it may be worth the additional investment to get one of these locks.

When it comes to burglar protection, the sheer size and thickness of the safe plays an important role. Large versions offer the best protection but come at a higher price. If the walls or door of a safe are not thick enough, thieves can use tools to break in without bothering with the lock. If you are mostly concerned about preventing young people from accessing your guns, you may not need a large, heavy safe. If burglary prevention takes priority, then it may help to look at the safety ratings for burglary resistance.

Another key point is that it should be bolted down. Even heavy safes can be carried away by well equipped thieves. If your safe is not bolted down, a burglar may tip it over to gain better access with a crowbar or other tool. Latching down your safe provides one extra layer of defense, so take the time to perform this step. It is best to bolt your safe to the floor into concrete or wood. Gun safes that are latched to walls provide easier access to thieves and are simpler to remove.
