Rare Extended

Is it bad manners 2 ALWAYS invite yourself@VERY short notice to a friends' home 4 coffee without reciprocating?
This is the sort of thing someone I know does. He regards these folk as his 'friends' even though he always seems to invite himself to their place to cadge a drink or a meal. He never thinks he should reciprocate! On the very rare occasion he extends an invitation to them, they do not want to come! What sort of friend is he and what sort of person are they to conduct a friendship with him like this? I think he is a user, do you agree?
Well, he did at least try one time to reciprocate and they told him no. Maybe he has tried in other ways. If those peope don't seem to mind and allow him to do this, then it is their problem, not yours. He probably is a user but maybe his friend's don't mind that much and are glad to have his company. Some people are just the generous type. It all depends on the people. Maybe he is the life of the party and they consider his presence there more important than him shelling out the dough

Rare Live Recordings 1934-1959 $60.78 48 years after her passing, Billie Holiday was honored with a five-CD set of Rare Live Recordings that includes film soundtracks, concert and club performances, radio and television broadcasts, rehearsal tapes, and even a private home recording where Lady Day sings "My Yiddishe Mama" and "God Bless the Child" to a child! If you think you know this singer, tap into this collection and see how much more there was to her than at first meets the ear. The more or less chronological presentation maps her personal and artistic transformation between the years 1934 and 1959. Out of approximately 60 titles, seven are rendered no less than four times apiece, and three -- "Them There Eyes," "God Bless the Child" and "Please Don't Talk About Me When I'm Gone" -- appear in five different versions. For this reason, those who seek a nice all-purpose, easy-to-use sampler of her career should probably consult her studio recordings first. ESP's Rare Live Recordings set is for people who have been smitten for life and cannot possibly get enough Billie Holiday. The intertwined discography, biographical chronology, and extensive liner notes spread out over two booklets, are at once informative, insightful and (unfortunately) sprinkled with typographic, editorial, and even factual errors. The worst of these is a glaringly incorrect statement in reference to the CBS Sound of Jazz television broadcast of December 8, 1957, whereby the producer makes the statement that "...this would also prove to be one of the last performances for baritone saxophonist Harry Carney." The reference was actually to tenor saxophonist Lester Young, who would die almost exactly four months before the passing of Lady Day in 1959. (Carney, of course, lived for another 17 years as the bass clef backbone of the Duke Ellington Orchestra.) Furthermore, the amazing rehearsal tapes are only partially represented here; they were reissued in their entirety on CD in 2006 as Songs & Conversations: The Lost Billie Holiday Session (SRI 510021). Why ESP-Disk omitted several tracks from this soul-baring workshop (taped in bassist Artie Bernstein's living room with a rather outspoken Jimmy Rowles at the piano) is puzzling and maybe even frustrating. But let's not allow these flaws to detract too much from the magnificence of this extended tribute to a great artist. ESP-Disk, one of the world's great independent record labels, is to be commended for having Billie Holiday, Charlie Parker and Bud Powell in the same catalog with Sun Ra, Albert Ayler, Marion Brown, Frank Wright, Pharoah Sanders, Patty Waters, Pearls Before Swine and Yma Sumac. Given the relatively easy availability of Lady Day's Vocalion/Columbia, Decca, and Verve studio recordings, this fascinating anthology of her uncommon works can and will act as a richly rewarding appendix to the more familiar portions of her legacy. ~ arwulf arwulf, Rovi Performers: Lionel |

Rare EP Tracks 1961-1991 $11.99 Cliff Richard's fiftieth anniversary celebrations saw some remarkable releases brought together, although this one was surely one of the least interesting -- despite its title holding out a lot of promise. Collectors and fans, after all, will already have gathered together the majority of Richard's Extended Play material across a wealth of other discs, not least of all the See for Miles EP compilations in the early '90s. This package is very much a poor echo of those sets, all the more so since anybody drawn in by the promise of material from 1991 will be disappointed to find the set petering out into Christmas songs and show tunes -- at the expense of far more deserving material from the other end of the chronological span. A handful of oddities do include an alternate take of "It's Wonderful to Be Young," and the lesser fabled English-language versions of "Frenesi" and "Perhaps Perhaps Perhaps." But the overall mood is largely disposable, and Richard continues to await a full examination of his complete EP catalog. ~ Dave Thompson |

List Of Rare Birth Defects
Birth defects are caused by a wide range of factors. It can be a hereditary abnormality, meaning, the defect has been inherited from the parents or ancestors. At the same time, the defect can also be a result of chromosomal disorder. Traits are detected by the time of fertilization. When an error occurs, a chromosomal abnormality occurs and results to birth defects. Common birth abnormalities such as Tay-Sachs and Down Syndrome can be given treatment more conveniently. However, rare birth defects, sometimes need more attention given the fact that treatment for such kind of abnormalities still remain limited. These defects vary both in intensity and in characterization. In the web for instance, photos of birth defects, can show us a variation of how birth defects manifest in the body. In these article, we will share with you a list of some rare birth defects.
Aglossia – If a baby has Aglossia, he is born without a tongue. Such kind of anomaly is common among those who have congenital and developmental problems particularly those in the cranio-facial area and the limbs.
Albinism – This abnormality is the congenital absence of melanin. Characterized by either a total lack or partial lack of melanin pigment in the hair, skin and the eyes. More often than not, those affected with this condition suffer visual difficulties like sensitivity to glare and bright lights.
Anencephaly – This congenital defect is characterized by the absence of the spinal chord and the brain. To date, there remains no cure or standard treatment for this defect. Most of the babies born with Anencephaly do not survive birth.
Aniridia – Babies born with Aniridia are born without an iris at birth. Most of the time, this occurs in both eyes. This is associated with a poor development either at the back of the eye or right in the retina which prevents the normal vision development.
Brachydactylia – This is an abnormal condition which characterizes short fingers.
Cleft foot and hand – This is a rare inherited anomaly which comes with a split or lobster foot and hand. In this case, a single cleft even extends promixally into the hand and the foot. This occurs in the conjunction with the clawing of the hands.
Club foot – This is another congenital foot deformity wherein the foot is twisted and down. There remains no treatment for this abnormality which is why patients are forced to walk either on their ankles or on the sides of the feet.
Heterochromia – This is an ocular condition wherein one iris is in different color from the other iris.
Darwinian ear – Another congenital deformity concerning a deformity on the helix of the ear.
Chromatelopsia – This is a condition of color-blindness. This is a visual defect wherein colorless objects appear tinged with color.
Polydatyly – This condition can be treated surgically among infants. This is characterized by the presence of additional fingers and toes.
While it remains difficult to tell whether or not you are prone to giving birth to an infant with birth defect. The good part is that some of these malformations can now be treated medically. However, still, some of these congenital rare birth defects offer no medical solution to date. Given this, it is very important that you take a prenatal examination prior to pregnancy to help ensure a safer delivery and healthier baby.
